Work from Student Siavash Ghormish Featured by Physics Review Applied, BYU ECEN Department
BYU Graduate Student Siavash Mirzaei-Ghormish is being recognized for a recently published paper, "Nonlinear Optical Binding." The paper, which focuses on manipulating small particles using strong beams of light (optical binding), was published April 21st, 2025 as an editors suggestion article in APS Physical Review Applied. While a lot of previous work has been done in optical binding, Siavash's work focuses on the theory of non-linear interactions, and develops a framework for understanding how these effects change optical binding at the nanoscale.
CamachoLab Attends the Yearly Center for Quantum Networks Retreat
Members of BYU's CamachoLab travelled to Tucson, Arizona from March 12-14th to participate in the yearly Center for Quantum Networks (CQN) retreat.
Siavash Publishes Papers on Optically Trapped Particles
During the last couple of months, two papers from CamachoLab member Siavash have been published in Physical Review describing novel strategies for characterizing optical traps and demonstrating optical trapping of large solid gold particles.
CamachoLab Members Participate in CQN Site Visit
Members of BYU's Camacho Lab travelled to Tucson, AZ from October 22-24th to attend the Center for Quantum Networks (CQN) site visit.
