FiO LS Accepts Poster Presentations from Christian and Skandan

Christian and Skandan are invited to present posters at the October 2022 Frontiers in Optics and Lasers Science conference

Christian Carver and Skandan Chandrasekar both submitted papers that were accepted for poster presentations at the Frontiers in Optics and Laser Science conference in October 2022. Both have been working on our open-source photonic integrated circuit simulator—Simphony.

Christian has updated Simphony so that it can simulate the propagation of Gaussian quantum states through a photonic circuit. We can thus predict multiple outputs for multiple Gaussian inputs that have become entangled in the photonic circuit. Our results match those of Strawberry Fields. Austen Probst, Benjamin Arnesen, Benjamin Fisher, and Tyler Stowell were also on the team that developed and verified these Simphony additions.

Skandan's paper describes Simphony's new layout-aware Monte Carlo simulation implementation. This allows Simphony to accurately predict how manufacturing variability impacts the performance in photonic devices.
